Minnesota Driver’s Ed Services – In Person & Online
In-Person Classroom
Driver’s Education
Our in-person driver’s education course includes the required classroom instruction students need before moving on to the permit and behind-the-wheel portions of driver training.
In-Person Classroom Package — $275
Includes:
Classroom driver’s education
First 3 hours of behind-the-wheel training
The $275 payment is due when registering for the classroom course.
Students are required to complete a total of 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training. The remaining 3 hours are $165 and is due when the student begins their 4th hour of behind-the-wheel instruction.
Total cost for classroom + 6 hours behind the wheel: $440
Students must be at least 14 1/2 years old to begin classroom instruction and may take the permit test once eligible.
We serve Grand Rapids and surrounding Minnesota communities, including Cohasset, Greenway, Deer River, Warba, Hill City and other communities in Itasca County.
Self-Paced Online Driver’s Ed – Minnesota State Approved
Complete your driver’s education classroom requirement online and at your own pace. Students receive access to the full online classroom course and complete the required coursework before moving on to the permit and behind-the-wheel portions of driver training.

Option 1 — Online Classroom Only | $120
Includes the online classroom course only.
Behind-the-wheel instruction is not included and may be arranged separately.
Option 2 — Online Classroom + 3 Hours Behind the Wheel | $275
Includes:
Online classroom course
First 3 hours of behind-the-wheel training
Students are required to complete 6 total hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.
The remaining 3 hours are $165 and are due when the student begins their 4th hour of behind-the-wheel instruction.
Total with all 6 behind-the-wheel hours: $440
Option 3 — Online Classroom + All 6 Hours Behind the Wheel | $440
Includes:
Online classroom course
All 6 required hours of behind-the-wheel training
This option allows families to pay for the complete classroom and behind-the-wheel program upfront.
The online course includes 30 hours of required coursework and must be completed within 90 days of registration.
At the end of each unit, students will complete a 15-question quiz and must receive a score of 80% or higher before moving forward.
Upon successful completion of the online course, students will receive a certificate of completion that allows them to move forward with the permit process.
Live Zoom Driver’s Education
Prefer a live classroom experience without coming into the office? Right Way Driving School will also offer select driver’s education classes live through Zoom.
Zoom Classroom Package — $275
Includes:
Live Zoom classroom driver’s education
First 3 hours of behind-the-wheel training
Students are required to complete a total of 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.
The remaining 3 hours are $165 and are due when the student begins their 4th hour of behind-the-wheel training.
Total cost for Zoom classroom + 6 hours behind the wheel: $440
Zoom classes will be offered on select dates.
Behind-the-Wheel Driving Lessons
Our behind-the-wheel lessons are designed to prepare students for the Minnesota road test and for safe, confident driving beyond the exam.
Each lesson takes place in a certified training vehicle with a licensed instructor who provides one-on-one instruction and real-time feedback.
Behind-the-wheel instruction is offered by appointment for students who have passed their permit test.
Lessons may be scheduled in:
1-hour, 1.5-hour or 2-hour sessions
All lessons are private with one student and one instructor.
Behind-the-wheel instruction: $55/hour
Students completing a Minnesota driver education program must complete a total of 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.
For students who purchased a classroom package that included their first 3 hours, the remaining 3 hours total $165 and are due when the student begins their 4th hour of training.
Students must bring their learner’s permit to each driving lesson.

Payment Options
Right Way Driving School accepts payment online during registration or clients may choose to make payments in person with cash or check.
Use of Right Way Vehicle for Road Test
Students may arrange to use a Right Way Driving School vehicle for their road test at a Minnesota exam station.
Vehicle Use Fee — $25
The $25 fee is due on the day of the road test and is not paid online.
Please contact Right Way Driving School in advance to reserve a vehicle for your test.
